You should rock a Mach 1 hood on that car and take EVERY badge off.  Slap on a centri blower and call it done.
Title: Productive day (dial up warning) Call it done...pg4
Post by: shame302 on January 27, 2009, 09:13:32 PM
Thats pretty much the rundown. scored a brand new OEM mach 1 hood on ebay. (in the box to the left in the 4th pic down). hopefully im able to sell the 2 valve engine, trans and mis. stuff to cover the rest. the V2SQ is coming off the 2 valve and going on the 4 valve wilth an air to air fmic. im trading the 03-04 cobra bumper to a local 01 cobra owner for his bumper. he is also buying my 03-04 hood. basically im working with a budget of 0.

its nice to be a little busy with a project though. other than sitting around watching movies, teaching myself to solve the rubiks cube and eating too much, the winter has been rather uneventful. i cant wait for spring.

sweet. i've got it down pretty well now solving it in around 3 mins on average. almost time to step up to the bigger one but i dunno about that. this one is still fun.

Any who. Round 2 complete and went fairly well and un eventfully. I finally got to tear into the other car. I had the red car pretty well stripped in a day. The silver car took me about the same amount of time but i managed to install the clutch pedal setup, pats module and key cyl, cluster and part of the cat back. The next step will be to take my time and clean/degrease the engine bay and get the car ready to be jambed up as well as clean the engine and trans. Hopefully during that time the new springs, clutch/pp and flywheel arrive.

So...I'm happy with it. Sprayed it sunday and today i readied the engine bay for the engine. Had i made more of an effort to get that darn aluminum flywheel resurfaced i could have had the engine and trans in the car.

Anywho...

Thanks. Yeah, That will be the color of the rest of the car. I was hoping to jamb up everything on the car but i didnt have room for all the parts and i ran out of time and materials so i figured it best to do the engine bay so i can move along with the swap.

Heh. I wish i had the time space and money for it. There is a decent turbo coupe locally that's just been sitting. A local guy with a clean little 4cyl notch is interested in all the 2 valve stuff. It would be nice to see it find a home in something like that.

I kinda liked the 03-04 Cobra stuff that was on it. Is it going red?
Title: Productive day (dial up warning) Call it done...pg4
Post by: shame302 on March 03, 2009, 12:16:22 PM
No, Red car is gone. This one will pretty much look like the red car did but i decided to keep the rear 03-04 cobra bumper (for now anyway) and the 03-04 cobra mirrors as well as possibly the side skirts. sold the hood, decklid/spoiler and front bumper.

Aw, shoulda kept all of the Cobra stuff (esp the front bumper)!!  Oh well, it's still an awesome project.  I can't wait to see it done.

Nah. I have a brand new OEM 03-04 mach 1 hood and im swapping the front 03-04 cobra bumper cover in favor of an 01' cobra bumper like i had.

only thing im not sure of is weather or not i want to use the 03-04 side skirts on it or the saleen ones i had bought but never put on the red car.

Paint code PVE called "GO MANGO" or "GO MAN GO" depending on who you ask. You have seen it on the dodge ram daytona and dodge charger daytona.

Yeah, I guess it looks a little more red in these pics than it actually is but i think its pretty close. Between the digital camera and neon ceiling lights in the garage the color changes.

It's just one of those colors that always jumps out at me. I figured that since i wanted to paint the car anyway (no way was i going to leave it silver) i might as well go with a non stock color. It would have been the laser red if otherwise. i originally was going to paint the t-bird burnt orange so this is a throw back to that. I'm very happy with it so far but it's another thing entirely once the whole car is complete.

Well i guess i can call it done. I had ordered a Steeda double hook quadrant and received it today so i went to install that. Filled the trans fluid, engine oil, coolant and PS/hydroboost fluids. Put some fresh premium in it, cycled the key on a few times to get the fuel to the engine and checked it over for leaks. Cranked her over she fired right up. Ran a bit rough initially then remembered i broke one of the clips for one of the injectors. I pushed on it and it smoothed right out. I'll have to get a new connector. Burped the coolant and cycled the PS/hydroboost and everything seems as it should. All that's left is to go back to the garage, clean it out and finish prepping stuff to get it jambed up. I kind of slacked off on that. Hopefully if i'm uber lucky she will be painted this weekend. I forgot to bring the camera so no pics/vids. Oh well. I do have a few of just after i dropped the engine into its new home and made most of the connections.

Figured id throw some foll up here. Car is finally put back together and driving. It came out pretty much just like i expected and I'm pretty happy with the results. Need a few very small details to be complete as well as a good detailing. Hoping to have the vortech V2SQ on it this season. Still need the fmic, possibly bap or better pumps than the focus pump that's in it and some time on the dyno.

Some pics of the process that i had on the computer.

Good eye, It's a 72' i believe. One of 2 resto projects my step dad has going on. The rest of the car is under the pile of tarps in post 39. That was in the garage and moved out so i could work on the mustangs. Had a LONG way to go but its going to be sweet. Might see a pair of 455s in the back ground of some of the earlier pics. The other project is a 53-54 ish ford f100.
