here's mine
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
hey jcassity, if you're into older stuff like that old printing calc, i've got a pair of old paymaster check printers i'll sell ya lol
Lessee, I got:
- Forty pounds of lobster (just got done shucking 'em)
- A pair of 6-ton axle stands (actually opened these more than a week ago when I started the T5 swap)
- A 20-ton shop press (something I've wanted for years!)
- A sheet metal brake/bender (God, I love Princess Auto!)
- OBD-II code reader (my sister got it for me so I could fix her '05 Neon - turned out to be a crank sensor)
- A pair of Homer Simpson slippers (The dog simply loves these)
- A new housecoat (may seem girly, but this 100 year old house is drafty as hell)
- Simpsons Season 11 DVD
- Family Guy Volume 6 DVD
- Pearls Before Swine book (The Crass Menagerie)
- Sherman's Lagoon book (Sharks just wanna have fun)
- 3 year subscription to Road & Track magazine
- A T-5 transmission, flywheel, clutch, pedals, 5.0 HO engine, DA1 speed density computer, etc (yeah, I know, I bought it all a month ago, but Christmas was my justification for spending the money :hick:)
- CD/MP3 player for the Saturn
- Couple pairs of pants, shirts, etc
- Some gift cards (may use to buy a DVD player for the T-Bird :D)
Got a nice new Acer Ferrari flat panel from.... Well, from me actually.
And My brother gave me one of his custom, handbuilt guitars. This is actually the third guitar body he built himself and the first neck he built. He was using prebuilt necks before this one.
Hmmm... Scalloped neck?
Strat body, dual humbuckers, hardtail bridge; looks like the perfect guitar. I love the inverted headstock.
What's the action like?
We got a new monitor for the comp, it's a 22" HD widescreen.
We also got some money, some gift cards and baby stuff, and Nicole got me a work coat. I also got a guitar tuner, and some candy, cookies, and chocolate.
I have yet to get her presents, but let's just leave it at this, I'm going ring shopping in the next coupla days ;).
Really, I'm happy to have a healthy family of my own, and good friends and co-workers. I couldn't ask for more than that.
I think that is the result of resizing the pic in Paint. Neck is straight.
Zak, action is pretty good, though my brother prefers the bridge higher than I do. I'll be making adjustments to that soon. He also tends to go for heavier strings than I do, but I've got a new set of Earnie Ball Extra Slinkys here to fix that.
Neck is hardrock maple with a strip of purpleheart and the body is ash with purpleheart, The pick guard is actually inset and glued, 1/4" purpleheart. All this gives this thing incredible sustain and resonance.
The Gibson E-490s give it a great warm, mellow sound that's perfect for the smooth jazz stuff I like to play.
The neck has a late 60's Fender look to it. (though inverted) Looks pretty good. I got a 1960 F100....though it's a Christmas ornament.
I almost bought Extra Slinkys the other day, but at the last second I opted for Hybrid Slinkys instead..I normally use regular slinkys.
That's a way cool axe, I dig it.
I've wanted for a long time to put humbuckers in my Strat. (just didn't want my guitar playin bud's to all holler at me for trying to make a Strat sound like a Les Paul or some such..)
My haul:
2 Shirts (one Mustang)
2 pairs of pants for work
3 seasons of House
Iron Man DVD
Shooter DVD
Beef Jerky
AZ gift card
Chilton manual for my Ranger
Cash - I'll admit, I'm hard to buy for
And I'll throw this one in, just cause of the timing:

First thing I did to my Les Paul, was make it scream like a strat. LOL

[We did bake our traditional baby Jesus birthday cake yesterday. This evening as with each year, we took it outside to the deck and sang happy birthday. Next we usually sit the cake on the rail and wait for a nice wind or breeze to blow out the candle. A couple of years the candle has been blown out. Tonight we had to help baby Jesus out a little:D . Maybe you could join us in this tradition, a couple families we know have been doing so for a couple years now as well.
all those tools you see there were a "search for all under 5$" on harbor freight.
BTW, the little blue thing in the picture there is a drill bit sharpener. It works great!!!!
I'm afraid to ask,but I will anyway..........what's "homo depot".I'm not judging you.LOL.LOL.
Those are the only strings I use on my electrics.
I bought myself a gallon of Zero-Rust for my car.
Got some razor blades and shoe laces for my boots.
We've decided to only buy what we need in life to live. Through the years, we've got to the point that there isn't anything that that we already don't have or need.
We still buy presents for our kids (now adults) and little cousins though. Makes it more fun to give then receive.
AMEN!, except the adults kids they cost more!!
I gotta go with daminc on this one, I got some new chains for the 4x4 a week or so ago, those are great,(two feet of snow dictated that actually) I have been able to pull out two stuck people so far this year, one of those gave me a nice steelhead he had cought that morning. I got a wonderful wife, beautiful house. Great kids, and three grand kids that we had over and cooked a Christmas Ham for. Also amazing as it sounds we had the Ex-Wife over at the same time, their her grand kids to. It boils down to the wife and I already have everything we need. And we were even blessed with a little extra $ to get the grand kids some toys and watch there face light up. I haven't seen anything on all the list above as neat as a two year old girl opening a toy musical gutar and going "AHhhhhh!!" or a 4 year old boy opening a neff golf set and going "Muahhhahahah!!"
Was one of the best chrismas's I have had in a decade.
I got a karaoke machine, a little pillow for in the car and a candle.
With my sister and I both in our 20s, Christmases have gotten really slim as far as gifts go, but we always get each other little things. My sis and I got my dad American Graffitti on DVD (we've had it on VHS for YEARS) and a few odds and ends, my mom and sis got their typical girlie things, and I got a new digital camera with 4GB memory card since I was constantly using my sister's cam. Also happened to get some new car wash, so since the weather was gorgeous yesterday, I figured why not try out 2 of my gifts? Ended up scrubbing, vacuuming, and armor-all'ing the Tbird for about 2 and a half hours...then got to take pics with my new cam! Excuse the less than optimal lighting...stupid winter time :( .

Dad and I get to start assembling my freshly machined short block tomorrow. :D
mjbtbird, I accidentally deleted your post while cleaning this thread up. Fortunately when I hit "back" I was able to copy & paste it, so here it is:
I got a Keurig 1 cup coffee maker - should come in handy when I don't feel like going to DD's. I also got a Jawbone II - nice & light. I don't really care what I get at this age - Christmas is for the kids. They're having a blast and that's all that matters.

the day after CHRISTmas this is what i got up too see!!. they say great falls only officially got 9 inches OVER NIGHT but if you look at my deck. the snow is even with it. that 2 feet off the ground. you can also see the tracks from my dads 1995 K1500 4x4 front bumper was starting to plow the snow. it like the Montana winters I know and miss !!!
I got my merry white CHRISTmas gift a day later!!!!!
happy holidays you all!!!!
I wish we got that much snow. Im sick of summer winter!
send it to me....I prefer it that way
Ditto ! i wish we had snow for like a week around christmas and thats it.
Personally, I'd be happy to never see the white shiznit again. Call me cynical, but 36½ Eastern Canadian winters were just about 35½ too many...
X2
We went to AL for Xmas, the day we left, Detroit got a foot dumped on the ground. Xmas Day in AL was clear skies and 70 degrees with a nice breeze.
I got a 120GB HDD for my Xbox and a Garmin GPS Unit.
Just got back here's mine...it was an awesome Christmas/Birthday.

I got 6 matchbox cars... (kids like it when something is under the tree from santa for me and their mom)..
Spoken like a true Nova Scotian who has never had to endure an Albertan one. :hick: We get off easy, buddy.
I love snow. I could do without shovelling for at least another month, though. We got a blizzard over New Years (50cm [20"] the first night, and another 15-20 [8"] on the 1st, but drifts were at least 4' on the driveway).
I got:
-An 800w Home Theatre (finally true surround)
-A 4-pack of fantasy/adventure B-movies (some don't even deserve that distinction)
-A few shirts that are too small, which I call motivational garments
-A nice set of Noise Cancelling Philips headphones
-A set of work lights on a stand (awesome for body work, since they put out so much heat. I used an identical set to work on my Jeep last winter, and they were enough to harden the filler in a non-heated garage.)
-Candies and nuts.
-A 16GB flash drive. (the receiver has a USB slot and plays DIVX :headbang: . I may not get 5.1 from an AVI, but we download all of our TV shows. Satalite TV is a rip-off, and I'm not interested in being a slave to the tube anymore. It's great for old classic kids movies too, and no more trips to the video store. Just give your torrent an hour or two. Two words.... Top Gear.)
-A pair of tickets to see Matt Anderson play at a local cafe on New Years. That was awesome, to say the least. Like SRV, but with 85% of the skill and a better voice. No back up band, just Matt.
-My kids as happy as any two could be, and a wife that has decided to keep me around for another year. ;)
Since at least a week before Christmas our family has had nothing but good news. I don't want to jinx it, just acknowledge it and say thanks to whoever is responsible.
...Except that I have, indeed, experienced an Albertan winter. I suppose I should've deducted a year from that "36½". My father was transferred to Calgary in 1979, and we lived there 79-80. I hated Calgary with every cell of blood flowing through my veins (and I was only 6!). It was that bad that I vowed to never darken the place with my presence again, and 30 years later I've kept that promise even as I watched my friends move on to "greener pastures". The only good memories I have of Alberta are Banff, Lake Loiuse, and leaving.
...And just because it's worse somewhere else (and no matter how good the weather in Alberta, it's always worse
because it's Alberta) doesn't mean I have to appreciate the shiznitty weather we get here :hick: I used to love snow, but the past few winters, which have been longer and snowier than I can remember winters ever being (prolly because I've been heating my own house) have simply made me too weary of it to enjoy it. I must admit, though, that even as I'm recoiling in horror at a snowy forecast I get kind of excited while the storm is actually happening...
Sucker :flip: We got spared. My father called me in a panic because he'd lost the keys to the ATV with the plow on it and didn't know how he was gonna move all the snow. I looked out the window and we got like 4". He told me they had over a foot in Sackville (about 1/2 hour away), and I didn't believe him. I went to Sackville to hotwire the ATV for him, and sure enough there were every bit of 14" on the ground there. We were expecting what you got, but by the grace of God we somehow didn't get it here.
Best gift of 'em all
That's one of the funniest things I've read in awhile... and so true! I have to admit, though, the rust-free cars were nice.
straight! Happy New Year, everybody.
