Title: stock equalizer question
Post by: mcb82gt on December 12, 2008, 08:05:37 AM
My car is factory premium sound- no EQ.

Are the plugs behind the storage panel to just plug in?

Or is it something harder?

Thanks

I've pondered the question, but I'm really new to these and the TC is still on the lift with another car under it

The plugs are there, they are tied up. Make sure that you are looking in the correct place in the trunk behind the rear seat, drivers side.

Mine has the EQ and I was under the impression that you need a non-EQ head unit to connect it up. That HU doesn't have a fader because the EQ does, and it comes with a specific  plug to work with the EQ.

Course it doesn't really matter, do a search here and you can see how to splice it into your system, plugs not needed. I got my EQ to work with aftermarket HU/AMP/Speakers, etc thanks to a few people here and I LOVE IT.

It looks like the factory amps were different.  With the EQ it has all 6 speakers coming off the amp.  W/o EQ only the front and door speakers off the amp.

Do you have to swap the amp also?

Was the amp/w eq higher wattage??
