What is the purpose of an intake and or throttle spacer? Would it do any good for a stock S.O intake?
no
I believe the intake spacer may decrease some of the heat transfer to the upper intake. Supposedly the increase in runner volume "helps" torque.
Anything seat of the pants, I doubt it. I havent tried one yet.
Ok well i was just wondering. Im trying to do some inexpensive mods for my cougar, and as i dont have a lot of money to spend yet ( cant wait for that income tax return.... )and im so impatient to want to wait and save, even though it would probably be better. I just dont want to put no cheap junk in it. Anybody got any recomendations?
you can always make your own,,
just trace it out on red oak lumber and you got the same thing.
that wont cost you anything but time. Im sure you can find a piece of slab lumber or flooring.
The cheapest mod i know of is some UPR subframe connectors everything else i remeber was like $??? price range.
okay sorry for being a smart *** i did think of UPR found you a good deal 2 mods for the price of one.

Under drive pulleys and a good cold air kit. can't beat that anywhere for the price and i will keep looking and if i find anything i will send you a PM.
For $99+ $10 shipping
If you have the filter opened under the hood, you're car is sucking in hot air.Get one that goes into the inner fender....if you want one.Our cars are already equipped with a factory CAI (cold air induction).
But for the price your still not gonna beat that and upr makes one of those also but its not for a stock EFI set-up without mass air so for budget mods that would not be a bad deal for the price. With the newer fliter it will be cleaner and may not give you much more power the pulleys will proably help more.
Thanks for all the advice guys
Some kids in high school had a 1/2" phenolic spacer under their upper plenum...they claimed it felt more torquey...the funny thing is, Tmoss prefers to cut runner length out for more power...torque is great but the SO cars definitely need some mid-range help(because that's basically when they quit making power) lol. Converting to HO style exhaust will help...even with cats, as will an HO upper plenum with matching throttle body.
Good luck,
Don
I have a HO set up for sale that id be willing to seperate
if you save money and want to start buing parts let me know
Would an Ho upper fit on the SO lower or would you have to change the lower too? And i would definitly be interested in the setup if you still have it when i save enough cash, what would you be asking for it, and could you post some pics?
H.O. top is the same as an S.O., but flows more air. The lowers are the same for everything but gt40 and cobras.
that would make for an easy swap
It flows more air because it's different then the SO...lol...it fits the SO lower just fine, but the HO upper is cast with a larger TB opening and a much larger throat.
If the TB opening is larger would you have to get an adaptor for the air intake hose to fit properly?
Absolutely not, the difference is internal, not external...so you're all good for a direct swap.
Good luck,
Don
Thanks man
That's what were all here for buddy. Sharing is caring...lol
Just wondered another thing though.....
What is an HO style exhaust?
duels with shorties and an h-pipe.
Yeah, just shorty style headers from an HO...or aftermarket if you feel like it...if emissions legality is a concern, you can run a catted H-pipe from a stang or mark VII. From those who have done this, they've said that the mustang flow tubes(pipe from back of h-pipe to ler) are too short...however, I used Walker stock replacement flow tubes and I had to cut them down a little, however I had 2 1/4" to 1 7/8" adapters to go to stock lers, so they add about 2".

Oh ok i have already done that...:D it was the first thing i did when i bought my car ( mustang shorties, o/r h pipe and flowmaster 40's) ive just never heard it called an HO exhaust :hick:
