Title: Questions 85 Cougar Xr7 vs 85 Tbird base
Post by: 85bird on November 22, 2008, 04:15:30 PM
I think that I have found a roller car for parts within 50 miles of me.  The guy has an 85 cougar xr7.  I have an 85 thunderbird base edition.

They guy was thinking that the hood, and front fenders are different in size from mine, and that they could not be swapped.  Does anybody know if this is true or not?

I know the front header is a different shape, but that is not of need at this point.

Thanks in advance.

they should be right.... i know the hood is the same....  i think you might have a marker light issue with the fenders (if it has the turn signal illumitation lights in the xr7), but they'll bolt up properly

I was thinking that what he said sounded wierd, and was not correct.  I hope it does not have the marker lights, becasue I think I found a heck of a deal.  Thanks for the reply!

The hoods are the same, I assume the fenders would be to.
I doubt ford would have spent the money to make different fenders. LOL

fenders and hood are the same. Doors have different trim but do fit. Front clip is different, but will swap out.

Trim would be the only difference. I have a Bird fender on my car. Its all the same sheet metal until the quarter panels.
