My Dad's 1970 Chevelle SS 396.....MB Vintage 17" Wheels, Falken Tires. I'll get the measurements on them I think they are 245/55s...not sure, I took a few quick pics and two vids of when we pulled it out of the storage unit last weekend. It was fairly windy as you can tell in the vids

Is it auto or 4 spd? I had a 67 SS396 that I wish I still had....... those were the days
Its an Auto, I have a vid of me driving it. Its all original with only 37000 miles on it. My Dad will forever have this car, and even after that it wont leave the family, he bought it two months after I was born.
Looks good:D . I still like the old stock wheels that came on the '70 SS cars from the factory. Then again I'm probably one of the few crazy people who like factory wheels better than after market ones.
At least on stuff from that era I'm the same way. They looked really good. And big wheels just dont go very well. 17's? .....mmm.....okay. Not bad. Anything bigger and it just looks stupid. Not knockin your dad's taste or anything cougrrr just my own personal preference, they had meaty tires and small wheels so it looks "different" lol :hick: But they are very good looking wheels nonetheless. I like the design. That thing is beautiful, the color combo is awesome. Gotta love the 396 too, got some reaaaaal GRUNT.
Someday I MUST have a '68-'72 GM A-body, I'm just drawn to them I guess. It's my favorite muscle car, I think the look is just perfect IMHO.
Dont get my wrong, I love the SS Rallyes. My Dad and I actually still plan on repainting them and slapping them on. The deal was, he bought this car in 1988, 2 months after I was born and the tires on the SS Rallyes at this very moment are the same that were on it when he bought it. He decided since he was buying tires, that we wanted something alittle bigger and alittle nicer, he searched for two years. He saw these and they are kinda like a newer age version of the Rallyes and he loved that. He wants it to look stock, but then again different, kinda like how Vinnie approaches Phoenix.
He wants to put SLP exhaust on it in place of the 32" glasspacks, and he wants new fenders, quarters and paint. I will do all body work on this car because that is my profession, and he wants the vinyl top removed which I am completely against. Some look good without it, but it looks so good on this car.
Wheels look good i almost got a Green Malibu for my 1st car rebuilt motor new paint job cd player and exhaust for like $3,000.
DOOOOOHHHHHHH yea man the vinyl tops look awwwwwwwwesome. Especially on the first gen monte's too. Without it I DONT like those. It's just gotta be there, they're slick as hell.
needs some vette rally's
My Uncle had a 72 Chevelle SS which he swapped over his vette rallyes and the 327 out of his 65 Vette. That Chevelle was amazing! He rebuilt the motor completely and from the Marina he owns which is a mile away from the dam you could hear that thing driving on the dam, it was Competition or Hugger Orange with White Stripes.
im looking to be putting chrome magnum 500s 14=7s on my 86 cougar am i looking at alot of work?
14x7s? I would definetly go bigger. And a 5 lug swap is a must and very well worth it.
