Yeah about that. I took my truck in a few days ago to get the rear end rebuilt and have the transfercase looked at because the rear was clanking and popping and being quite unpleasant. The T-case was whining and howling when it was in 4 wheel and it didnt like dis-engaging when in 4wheel.
Well, i get a call a day or so ago, your transfercase is your problem, would you like us top rebuild it? Sure. They did that all fine and dandy with me... its gonna be pushing snow this winter so.... I want all the weak links taken care of.
Foreward to today. I get a call saying that my truck is done it will cost $573.98. Cool Cheaper than I thought it would be.:punchballs:
We picked it up and it didnt make any noise ALRIGHT! Right? ok, I'm driving home and I got curious about if it was fixed or not.... I was setting at a light and I put it in reverse CLANK! after a few obsenities are shouted me and my mom get home and i shout some more we take it back to Russ Moores and I talk to the guy at the desk that checked me out.... He saw me walk back up to the door and was standing at the desk ready.
I go in and hand him the keys back and say FIX the rear end. He politely tells me that we had the cover off and the posi looks fine the clutches are perfect still... the truck has 155k on it... really hard to believe if you ask me..
I tell him he should come out and actually listen to the truck. I start it and put it in gear... CLANK. Reverse... CLANK i shut it off and walk to the bed rail and shake the truck back and fourth.... CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK.
Huh? fixed? heres the keys back.
my little rant.
My question is did they charge you for the labor and supplies to "check" the diff? Thats just more money they need to take off the new bill
they charged me for the fluid
hell they only charged me 47.00 in parts.
I'd be pissed. so what did they really do to the t case?
they rebuilt it.... cool but it wasnt a major issue
they checked the diff too remember...
And you brought it back to the same place because....?
I would have had them refund my money. If you pay them to fix a problem and they tell you its fixed and its not, your entitled to a full refund.
You would think that as tight as the competition is for repair work (AKA when people actually break down and shell out the $$$ to have it done) that shops would be interested in doing quality work.
