I took cosmetology school at Normandy for two years (junior and senior year of highschool). Yesterday I went down to grove city in columbus, ohio to take my state board test. It was about a seven hour test all together and included a written portion and a practical part that we performed on a manikin. I'm happy to say I got an 84 and needed a 75 to pass, and now I am a licensed cosmetologist!
Congrats and welcome back!
thank you. welcome back to what?
well hasent it been a while since you have posted?
oh yeah lol! been so busy with school and stuff trying to graduate. you know.
Congratulations, Samantha great job on your achievments. I'm pretty sure Mom & Dad are proud of you to. Way to go !! :grinno:
Yeah my mom came down with me and we were both crying when we got my results. It was so nerve racking though sitting there for an hour waiting for the results. Then we had to wait like another hour and a half for my actual license.
Thanks!
Samantha, Was your dad working? Because I didn't think (Ric) missed out on these big events. :D
If my wife allows me to wear make-up,I'll ask you for pointers.
Yeah the test started at 8 am we left at 4:10 in the morning!!! and didn't get back home till 7pm.
Well, Samantha it was a long day but in the end you walked away with what you studied so hard for. So again Congrats you deserved it. :D
Thank you! I feel like the biggest weight is now lifted off my shoulders! now all that is left is talking to my boss to training me so I can work as a stylist at my salon.
I have to take training courses no matter what now so I can learn more. Because in school all they taught was the basics so I'm still a beginner =[
Congrats!
Heh, If I had known you were in town I'd have sprung for a celebratory drink or at least a Mt Dew. ;).
Looks like I'm gonna have to forego haircuts til CatJam. Bring yer skizzers. :D
Congrats!
Congradulations !!!!
that is what my wife does for a living (also drives school bus).
she owns her own beauty shop and she loves her job, even after 20+ years of doing it................best of luck to you.
Haha yeah I'm not quite that age yet. I'm just happy to be 18 finally!
Thanks guys! I'm so excited to get into the industry I love that kind of stuff. =)
Atleast you'll be doing something you like! Heck I'm just a grunt at the local tool rental. I need to get my ass into wyotech or something lol.
Maybe if I make it to catjam you can fix the "trim" my gf gave me. Or maybe suggest a new do for me. My hair is extremely thick, but when its any less than a couple inches it sticks straight up. I just keep it long and tie it up. Its a PITA otherwise.
Anyway, congrats. Nice to see someone make something of themselves instead of counting on -jobs their whole life.
Can you make me pretty?
^^^ Hes prolly bald :hick:
Haha yeah! i actually can't make it to cat jam this year.
Hey Sam... that's so cool!
I remember when I took my test, I was pregnant with Keely and I didn't feel nervous at all until after it was over. But we had to test on a real person... I took my sister with me as my model and had already cut over 10" off her hair before we went. Then when we got there, I had to take off about another 4"... I think that was my most nerve wracking part of it.
Anyway, I went home with a migraine afterward because all the emotion and nervousness caught up to me by then.
Oh and just a word of advice... don't work for a chain salon if you can help it. I worked for Famous Hair, now owned by Regis, and it's horrible. If you can get into a private salon, even if it's on commission... do it. You will build a client el and eventually will make your money at it.
Thanks Karen! Yeah they just changed it this year that nothing is on a live model everything including the facial and manicure is on a manikin which makes everything so much easier I think. I actually work at a private salon now it is called future directions I love it there all I have to do now is talk to my boss so I can get training so I can work there as a stylist and not an assistant.
Hey
...
Its "mannequin"
:p
No, she had it right, as in Manakin Skywalker.
My mom is a licensed Cosmetologist. She has been for 20 years. My girlfriend wants to be a cosmetologist and is going to school next year for it. Congrats on passing the tests.
Search Southeast Community College. Its closer to you than Wyotech and WELL worth the time and money. I went there. Amazing place.
Oh that's great... you already have your foot in the door. I hope you are able to start working as a stylist soon.
