whats the power/torque rating on a stock AOD trans?
88 thandercat if they vary year-to-year and from car ot car.

this one in perticular has 67,000 grandma's miles behind a v-8. i plan on using a 3000 stall, cooler and shift kit. i was wondering what the stock specs were so i'd have an idea how long it'd last behind the 347.

You also need the hardened inner input shaft, stock ones break at the 300hp level...

if i get a hardened input shaft, do i loose my lock up capabilities?

No, you lose the lock up when you go to a one piece input shaft.

If you go with a high stall non lock up, make certain to use a good external trans cooler for the street.

they aren't to  good for hard treatment in stock form. esepically if you bring up the hp. save your bucks and have one built for your needs ,saves you in the long haul.  :burnout:

yeah, i know saving up and doing it right the first time is key, and i've been trying to push that idea in every aspect of this project. but i have to draw the line somewhere or i'll be a poor old man by the time this things over with. i figure i can try to make this trans last as long as i can doing the basic stuff(like coolers and shift kets and such) then when it finally does go, either hopefully have enough save up for a stronger aod or t-5.

how hard is it to swap input shafts? i didnt see a write up anywhere on the actual change them out. the only time ive ever touch an auto trans is flushing the fluid in them...so im an auto idiot to say the least.

I also have a question.  Are the AOD from the 2.3 (non-turbo) Mustang the same as the V-8?  I have one (actually 2) and I was wondering if I should toss it or keep it?

I guess I found out my own answer through research.

The AOD never came with the 2.3, Turbo or non-Turbo.  The transmission that came with the 2.3 is a A4LD.

Does not sound like it worth anything except for recycle.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you can wait,come sometime in May I'm putting a stick in mine.My aod is built for at least 450 on the wheels.non lock up,
2800 stall,got about 6-8 hundred miles on it,Ive got about 2300 in it .let it go for about 12-14 hundred.Got reciepts if interested?
