I haven't done the 15in upgrade yet, but until then what are some good performance tires for a 14incher on a 86 cougar ls. looking for wide, but won't dig in the wheel well and nice look with all around performance. Thanks..:burnout:
I'd go with some stock size (P215/70/R14) BFG Radial TAs. They're sorta *performance* :hick:
I second the 215/70R14 size. I think any wider would bit a bit too bulging on these small wheels.
I'm running death_in_snows, I mean Cooper Cobras on mine and they are pretty decent.
Not the best picture, but you get the idea.
second the cooper cobras, had them some years ago. not the best in real bad weather but good for everything else. they are good tires and made in america if that means anything to you:flip:
havent been able to find them around here in the stores for a while but every time i did they had raised white lettering like in your pic(my old set didnt)
The cobras a good tire,But the cobra emblem is only on the black side.
I run P215/70/R14 Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS tires. I don't know how they handle snow because, well, the car has never been in the snow ;)
Sumitomo HTR4's or whatever is the equivalent all-season tire these days.
They are inexpensive and do well in the snow too.
Had them on the 79 Pace Car, the 84 XR-7, the Rangers winter wheels, and the Z-7 last winter. A good all-round tire. They make a Z-rated all-season tire, but I've never used that in the snow...
I know how they handle... not good. :hick:
Ok, I just was looking at the tires usually on horsepower tv and getting ideals.
Has anyone tried to fit a 235/60-14 in the rear?
I have 225 70r 14 Firestone Firehawks. they are really good so far.
Its kinda hard to get *good* handling out of big balloon sidewall tires.
I slapped 245's in the rear on stock 14" rims. They bulge quite a bit but it looks good IMO, I dont race it or anything, just crusin' so it didn't bother me at all.
