Title: T3/T4 Turbo, 40Bob Header and TiAL 38mm WG Installed
Post by: Inspiribomb on October 15, 2007, 03:28:18 PM
I spent Saturday installing the new header, turbo, oil lines and wastegate. Although I have a mysterious boost leak (I think its between the wastegate and header), everything is working GREAT. We took the car out for a spin, and the turbo is RIDICULOUSLY loud, even on the freeway people in other cars look to see what the noise is. As in, as loud as a semi truck. Just easing into the throttle, the turbo winds up so loud, sounds like a jet taking off. With the boost leak I can't get above 10 PSI, but up to 10 it pulls hard. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

My exhaust consists of a 3" diameter elbow off the turbine housing, dropping down about 6", THAT'S IT.  It sounds like a John Deer at idle, sounds like a jet or semi when I get into the boost.  Heading over to my bro's tonight to pull the header and tighten down the wastegate.

Its not boost creep.  It turns out its an ignition issue.  One of my plug wires was not seated very well.  Still havfen't fixed it 100% but I did get 1 good hard pull out of the car and it was scary.

I have determined that I have an ignition issue.  I fixed it temporarily last night and did a pull, hit 16 PSI and backed out of it, scared the shiznit outta me, the car has never pulled nearly that hard!  I think I am going to replace all my plug wires to see if that fixes it.

Wait until you're making 24psi on a cold night. Now THAT is fun. :burnout:

PIcs are forthcoming.  I apologize for the cardomain link, I have no idea what is going on with it and why it would fill you with spam.  I've never had a problem.  But as I said before, I will post some pictures soon... ;)
