Title: My 88 sport
Post by: nutwagon on October 10, 2007, 03:07:37 PM
Hey this is my first post. Heres my 88-87 thunder turd port coupe.
Mods include mustang exhaust headers, h pipe, pulleys and a throttle body. Springs are 650 lbs performance springs for a 96 cobra. Right now its in gray primer and is going to be black with read pearl. Thats a long way off but this winter I`m going to collect parts to build an 11 second 331 stroker from dss racing. Its a stock standard 5.0 that makes 300 ftlbs of torque and 200 hp, rough guess. It runs 14`s I think. I smoked a tsi and almost ran him over lol. I couldnt even floor it til I hit 35 mph.
Its got a cowl molded off a 69 camaro. I wanna make an all metal one using a real camaro hood and hammer weld it on there. since fiberglass sucks it cracks like crazy. My bro built this car back in 2003. We couldnt get a title for it so we bought an 87 shell and swapped everything over. This car has been to hell and back. I`m going to run a c4 or a t5 with a spool rear and 3.73`s and a 28 oz flyweel. a 3500 stall and an aluminum drive shaft.

Welcome and nice ride. I have a pair of those headphones like those but mine doesn't have the volume . Are your pioneer? Why are they in the car anyway you can't use them and drive legal can you?

Thank you my bro deserves all the credit as you see it in the pics. It looks liek hell right now but its nasty looking. My huge burn out marks are still in front of my house from 3 and a half years ago. lol
they look fresh still.
I have 1 question though. we did not swap out the 88`s axle and this 87 chassis i have is a sport also. Is it a limited slip because the old one would spin both tires but I can spin one tire and the other spins the otherway like a non posi.

I like it.  Your priority is correct!  Way cleaner under the hood than in the passenger compartment.:D

Why? Are you using an older block?

Oh, and welcome.

Some stroker kits use the 28oz balance. Not sure about DSS's kit.

Welcome to the board.

A wagon full of nuts? I hope they're roasted cashews.

Welcome to the asylum, enjoy your stay.

I like the painted intake. Looks good in there.

Yes im a wagon full of nuts. lol It`s a song from a great game called motor city online that died.
Me and my brother made that grille from the stock one by cutting the bars out. Its going to have red tinted clear plastic bars in there when its done. along with a frenched anteanna to hide the base. Idk if I want to make it recessed or flush with the fender. or I might relocate it to the right rear quarter panel and angle it. but thats all a while away. Right now I just need something to drive cause I have like 3 cars that dont run lol.

It did beat 2 turbo cars, a single turbo supra and an eagle tsi. not to mention a stock fox body mustang with an auto.

Looks like a good place to start... Im interested to see your final results with the hood. Ive like the cowl, but if you are wanting to do something custom i would like to see something a little different.

Btw, Welcome!

cool ride, I have seen it on cardomain.  and NO it wont run 14'2, look at my sig and check out my cardomain to see what it takes to make these cars run low 14's....  I only ran a 14.7 due to fuel pump issues, but once they were sorted out the thing hauled ass!  Man I miss that car.  rocked a bunch of stangs on the highways with it....  I wonder if the kid I sold it to wrecked it yet?  Or if he will sell it back?

I`m guessing it runs 15`s-14`s judging by the cars it beat. Thats my bro`s old cardomain. He cant remember his email and password for it so I cant really update it. as far as the hood goes the glass cowl is . It`s splitiing and cracking. I might do something different with the other hood I have like a camaro ss center section with vents or something.

Yeah I'm hoping mine will click off a high 14 with the auto once I get the GT40 intake on. The autos hold the cars back a bit (especially when you don't have the right stall converter:hick: ).

BTW nice T-bird :birdsmily:
