Title: Fuse issue
Post by: turbo88 on October 09, 2007, 12:07:04 AM
My friend installed new deck/speakers in his 87 TC. Fuse #11 which powers the seats/stereo blows every time the car is started. Any suggestions as to what may be the problem?

Well actually the seats use a fuse.. I don't recall which numbers. They are on a Circuit Breaker as far as I know?

The radio actually didn't work prior to installing the new head unit, and the seats stopped working as well before installing the new HU.

But yes every time I turn on the car that number 11 fuse blows. I've already replaced it a couple times and same story.

nope, theres a big difference between a circuit breaker and a fuse.

Follow fuse 11 in the below pics and you see where it leads.  If you have any options per the diagrams, start troubleshooting.

two different situations have been described on when the fuse blows.  One of you says the fuse blows "every time the car is started" and the other says "every time i turn on the car".

In terms, which is it?  KOEO or KOER?  accy/ start/ or what?  It makes it easier to troubleshoot.

First i would be looking at power antenna since its on the same fuse as well as the amplifier if you have those options.  Look at the diagrams and you will see that fuse 11 covers a couple different options besides the radio.  as for the power seats ,, i would suspect someone has been hacking into a hot wire for power to something or another in the past and you have inherited the problem.

also, since your seats keep jacking up and screwing wtih you, check out my diy link below and in there is a link to power seats with wiring diagrams.

The fuse blows KOEO..

As for the wiring diagram.. I think I will have a tough time reading that..

I think I will get my mechanic to fix it.. He's had a few of these cars before. If he ends up fixing it I will let you guys know what it was.
