Title: Exhaust is finished..with pics
Post by: 88BlueBird on October 03, 2007, 10:29:04 PM
I haven't posted any pics in awhile, so I thought I should get with the program. Here are some pics of the a MAC prochamber offroad pipe, Borla ProXS lers and LX mustang tailpipes I installed on my  '88. All of it is 2-1/2" tubing.  The exhaust system is pretty quiet, until you step down on it...it has a nice throaty rumble then.

Yea, I agree.  For a Michigan car the underside looks new!  Great exhaust too.

Whats up front for your exhaust?  I have bbk shorties dumping into a bbk H but it hangs way too low...  drives me nuts.  How about a side shot of the whole car from ground level?:D

Thanks for all of the positive comments. I will have to get a sound clip of the exhaust...the prochamber definitely has a unique sound compared to an X or H pipe.

I'm using factory mustang headers for right now. They fit really nice around my column shifter and the prochamber pipe bolted right to them.

I will have to get some pics of the car at ride height...I like the turned down exhaust because it looks almost like the factory exhaust on these cars.

Looks great, bet the borlas were a pretty penny. Only thing I dont really like is the turndowns look too long, like they go about 6 inches down past the bumper.

The Borlas I bought used from Anderson Ford Motorsport in IL a few years ago. They were used once for a "ler shootout" in a magazine article. I got them both for $60.
I cleaned and repainted the underside of the car when I had the engine, trans, and exhaust removed from the car last year.

cool. ive got the same borlas on the mustang with the borla tails. they sound real "muddy" with the FRPP headers and stock H on the 4 valve. the stainless stuff is the balls for sure...

You did a good job painting the under carriage.  You left a few cues though.  I wish I had the patience to do that.

Thats because it looks the best.. LOL. ;)  I would love to clean my floor pans and repaint them next year.  They have 19 years of undercoating on them.

when using a mustang catback do you need to lengthen
the h pipe to ler intermediate pipes or just back of
the axle.do the rear pipes work over the axle? im a fox
cougar newbie so im trying to learn all i can from the
experts. i have an 88 XR7.THANKS! --irv toms

I had to lengthen the intermediate pipes by a couples of inches, but I used short lers. If you use longer lers, you might get away with not having to lengthen them. The 87-93 LX pipes I used fit over the axle well, but the the passenger side is a tight fit. I had to "massage" mine around that huge gas tank bracket on the passenger side.

My exhaust fit fine and I ran 2.5" all the way back....  I had the cherry bomb glassbacks on ine though.

My '88 XR-7 has 2.5" duals too with no problems.

Great looking exhaust system. You did a great job there.I'd like to see a pic of it from the side with the car sitting on the ground as well.
