:punchballs:
Bloddy hell. I just about shiznit a brick. Atleast I know what mine *could* be worth. If it's there when I get out of the navy I'll pay cash for it.
sorry, but your car nor that car is worth near $8K.
Than one isn't either, he's a dreamer and in love with the car. I would not want to break up a love affair that strong.
TED
I see that 88 TC's can go for 10k, why not a Fila. It looks to be near virgin. Mine I'll give it to you, it's a peice-o-shiznit but it's mine. I'm proud of it. I will probaly never sell it. However what a GOOD example of one is worth. I feel about 5k is a good price. $8000 is pushing it even for me though
once again, any car is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it........ wish everything worked that way :(
Another one drunk on the Barrett Jackson Kool Aid....
That's what im wondering...
For every 10-15 TC's theres like 1 Fila?...
And thats not the best pic, But it looks very straight and clean still and has just over 55k original on an '84!?.
Guess it's just a matter of popularity? Turbo versus 302...
Not even that. The Fila isn't as popular. No one knows exactly how many there are. They are worth what you are willing to pay for them. I just wish they got a bit more respect from the Cougar and TC club
Basically to most people theyre just another 5.0 bird. And thinking basically, 5.0 birds are less unique than a 2.3 turbo bird.
Very true. But it's not everyday you see a car ( not all had but some do) with white leather, flat white-ish paint. The black under molding is black like TC's. Body color grill to boot. Also for the record not all Fila's were 5.0's, there are 3.8 ones that I know of. Mine just happenes to be a 302. But above all that, they should still be worth a bit more, in my eyes, because they are still a high option car. Dual power seats, Preimum sound, power mirrors, power antenna, tripmeter. It's all stuff mine had. I'm not saying they are made of gold, just not sure why everyone thinks down upon them
Fila: (http://images.southparkstudios.com/media/images/617/617_image_09.jpg)
Easy, because even a loaded FILA doesn't match a 83-86 TC, let alone an 87-88.
83-86 TC standard:
3.47 trac-loc 7.5" rear with 10" drums
quad shocks
Big front and rear sway bars
Quick-ratio steering rack
5-Speed Manual trans
foglamps
A/C
87-88 TC standard:
3.55 trac-loc 8.8" rear with 10.5"-ish discs
quad shocks
Even Bigger front and rear sway bars
Quick-ratio steering rack
5-Speed Manual trans
ABS
11" front discs
Adjustable Ride Control
foglamps
power windows/locks/mirrors
interior light group
A/C
16" wheels
You see where I'm going with this? The TC was the top price-point on the TBird side, so it's got the exclusivity of being the "top-of-the-line" model. You want to talk about options? Look at Layla:
dual power seats
power windows/locks/mirrors/antenna
keyless entry
illuminated locks
dual illuminated visors
interior light group (kick panel lights, glovebox light, c-pillar lights)
carpeted floor mats
cornering lamps
power moonroof
leather interior
clearcoat metallic paint
auto-dim headlights
electronic climate control (EATC)
premium sound with equalizer
plus all the standard TC stuff...
Look, FILA's are "more rare" and "more special" then base models or elan's. But they are not TC's. If you want a real gauge, look at the 30th Anniversary TBird's from 85. Rarer then FILA's, far more "known" about and respected. Their prices are all over, but "drivers" and even low-milers, unless 100% mint with the jacket/certificate/floormats, go for peanuts. There's one for sale in my town for $1895 with no bites, and it has nothing wrong. FILA's will be less then 30ths. When 30ths get to all be worth $$$, then FILA's will probably come up.
I understand that Mike. I'm not trying to start a shiznit-storm. I just don't see why to the right person they can't be worth money. I know very well 30th's are rare and can go for money. Why I think Fila'a are rare is because not one person has givin me a solid number made yet. There could be the 40-odd I have found/heard about total or 400,000 of them. No one knows. Thats why I like mine. It's different, and I'm one of the few who have one AND know alittle about it
Cougar 5.0: Oh no you didn't break out Mr. Hankey. :hick:
I had a pair of Fila shoes once.
Worst. Shoes. Ever.
I actually do have a pair. White leather to match the car, size 10 1/2 wide. They were bought for when I can drive the car for the first real time...... the box is getting dusty in my closet
All this "gonna poop" and "shiznit-storm" talk - I had no choice!
:toilet: :shakeass:
Go find a early to mid 80's clothing catalog and look at the clothing made by Fila, I believe its called Filawear. Now you will probably understand the lack of respect. In the same catagory as Members Only and Izod.
maybe the lack of respect here stems from the way your car has been represented to us, or the fact that you own the one we see most often on the board.
I don't own the only one. I belive there are 3 others on here. I'm the only one thats posts about it and does work on one.
fixed :flame:
that's still questionable
I need to go to the DMV and switch it, thats it. 2 signitures and 30 min's and it's mine. Kinda pointless now since I'm not driving it as it still need a brake booster and I need to finish this timing chain
in possession of? :shakeass:
My car. Bits and peices of the story are in my thread. But it's one step from settled
for the unknowing..... was the fila a dealer installed option, or was it actually factory, like the eddie baurer?
p.s. as for my sig, i can't resist quoting a good "stick".... i'd have someone elses, but it seems as if you're the one getting it "stuck" to the most lately... nothing personal
Meh, I endorse using them. It giver more people to see my name and see what I have done. And that I'm learning
From what I understand it was factory. Doing badges, painting the car tu-tone, changing the seats... thats ALOT for a dealer I think. I can't prove this but maybe Mike or Carm will know more. Chuck also
Yes it was a factory package. In 83 we ordered a brand new Raven Black Bird to match a 57 we had at the time. Well after that Ford started sending us packets of info on upcoming models and one was a rather lengthy brochure on the Fila package. They also sent a calander which showed all the new Birds and a fancy if it s ever lost it will be returned(yea right) key chain. I should dig out the calander and post some pics as it was pretty neat. Anyhow a long winded way to say yes it was factory.
