I always wonder about things like this, usually something like:
"If this part isn't needed, then why did the engineers go to all the trouble of designing, fabricating and installing it?"

I had never seen a bracket like this on any car till I got to messin' with Fox Stangs and Birds. I figured since the older cars got along without it, it was just extra weight. I suspect it probably is some type of noise or viberaton dampner, and with my rumpty rump cam I'd never tell the difference. Anyway 5 years later and and all is well...

There is one of those brackets on my 1989 Crown Victoria also, some kind of stabilizer  or support maybe?

Makes a good door stop.
Also works as a good parking brake when u toss out the AOD and go stick.

ya hit the nail on the head, that must be exactly what they put it their for lol, so when we put the stick in the car  that it  :giggle: deserves we can use it as a wheel chuck.
