all of a sudden like the past few weeks only the verry highest speed on my heater contolls works none of the others speeds work? is this a simple fix. kind of annoying with the fan blowing super high in your face and when the A/C gets cold you want to turn the fan down but it;s high or off lol . i tryed my books but they say nothing abut this just replacment
thanks Erik
yeah this is in my mustang but thought i could get some ideas it is a fox after all.
There's a resistor inside the heater box. Got a plug with a few wires on it and it has some various spring looking things inside.
so the risistor could be bad is what ur telling me ? or just jet a new junkyard one and try that ?
You could try a JY one first. I'm not sure exactly what it's called besides blower motor resistor.
well thanks. your the only reply ive got. corral sometimes sucks. thats why i still wish i had a cougar still so i wouldnt deal with them most times
I can't think of the members handle but someone on here did a write up on how to fix the one you have. I bought a new one from Mr. Formman It cost me about $30. I will tell you frlom experience that if the resistor blew that the motor needs to be replaced. I put a used one in first and it blew in about a month. New motor and motorcraft resistor and all is well now for 8mos. The old motor squeaked any way.
see the below pic
To fix yours like i did mine (no i never had a problem for years since this fix) This costs no money to fix
Blower Motor HVAC only runs on HIGH
ZERO DOLLAR FIX
**warning, after this repair, do not touch internal parts, BURN HAZARD***
Remove the glove box
locate the resistor mounted in the air box
It will have one connector and is mounted by two screws
pull it out and stare at it real close
there will be small springs mounted to clips
These springs are the resistors which limit fan speed
There will be another tiny tiny device that looks like a electronics part
This would be a fuse adn you will remove it now
Insert in a section of 30awg wire or smaller in place of the fuse
This thin section of wire will act as the "new" fuse
Test fan
all speeds should work
When debris gets built up inside the fan causing it to be "heavy", the fuse will blow again.
