Title: Gotta Question
Post by: 1WLD BRD on January 30, 2005, 04:02:03 PM
What is this part and can I get rid of it.  The car is my '85 Cougar

The part in question is the square thing in between the starter solenoid and the voltage regulator.  I think it had something to do with the emissions for the vehicle, because one wire is broke (and has been for years) and the car still runs and drives fine.  Half the wires that run from it lead to plugs that have nothing to plug into.

Thanks for any help.

well, if nothing plugs into it, and it runs fine, ditch it

I just went out and unplugged it after I posted the question, and it started and ran fine, but Phyxius said it has something to do with the charging system.

My guess: Electric choke relay.
