what was factory? anyone kow? i have a friend that is restoring one and he wants to do it factory.
I do believe that back in those days ford was still using the good ole phrase. "You can have one in what ever color you want as long as it is black" Glad to know it hasn't been that way in awhile.

The engine block on all 63 Ford engines were all painted black (http://"http://www.scaleautomag.com/sca/community/forum/topic.asp?page=-1&TOPIC_ID=49522&REPLY_ID=539796")
I'm thinking always black engines, possibly up into the 60's
thank you! i appreciate the info.
I want to say some were green
I hate that you can get them in any color and black now. Black cars looks the best IMO.
Apparently that only applied to the exterior color. ;)
There were different colors on the engines for sure. Some of the 40s flatheads were bronze and some were green. There's a message board full of old hot rodders that would be the place to ask - HAMB or something to that effect... I can't recall the exact name though. It isn't hamb.com (or . anything else either)
I'll see if I can find a link and edit.
edit: Google is a wunnerful thing - http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/ A link to colors here too - http://www.telusplanet.net/public/bboogaar/
thanks!
