Title: 1986 Cougar XR7 F/S in VA
Post by: thesoldan on March 07, 2007, 11:11:02 AM
First let me say THIS IS NOT MINE, but I saw it on craigslist.

http://richmond.craigslist.org/for/286763488.html (http://richmond.craigslist.org/for/286763488.html)

It doesn't run but it's only $200.  Near Richmond, Virginia.

EDIT: If I was to buy this car (Big If), would there be an interest in me parting it out?

I think that is the first Sand Beige XR-7 I have ever seen. Of course being the only year that color was available would probably have something to do with it. ;)

Kind of a shame really.

I wonder how long that window has been open (notice the rug over it)?

Looks like a rare color combo..

It has been for sale for over a month.  He started by asking 500.  That window is actually missing - not just rolled down.  It is a shame, I fear that it may make its way to the crusher soon.

It even has the cornering lamps. Man...
I hope it's not a 5-speed.

IF you part it, I would try to get some parts out of it.

It is a shame that the car isn't in better shape.  I love that hard-to-find color.

It would be cool if those of us in MD and VA all pitched in and went down together to get this thing running and keep it at one of our houses so it doesn't get parted or crushed.

Cool.  Wonder if Shawn and Joe would want to take the trip.  Fred, you have a trailer, right?

Speaking of Shawn, where in the world has he been?  Sent an email, called twice, nothing.  Is he ok?

I don't have a trailer in my posession. My cousin has one though. Maybe he'd be willing to tow it.

Have you called the owner yet?  If it is still for sale, I am thinking about calling them to get an idea of the vehicle's condition to see if there is any possibility of us being able to get it running again for little or no money.  If it's one of those things where one morning, he couldn't start it and it has been sitting since, there may be some promise.  But if the trans is shot, head gasket blown, floor pans are rusted out, interior trashed, engine bay is a mess, then it's only hope is probably a parts source.

I haven't called about it. I don't mean to throw it on you Karl, but you are a great negotiator and you have a lot more experience with these things than I do. ;)
