So i was given a free 302 block from a pickup not sure what year, Is there any major differences I should be aware of. The plan is to rebuild another engine outside the car so that I can just swap it in rather than have the car sitting without an engine during the rebuilding process. Oh and the "rebuild" includes a HO conversion mwahahaha.
P.S. I havent seen it yet so I don't have a casting number or anything.
Come on guys I need a little help here
were gonna need some kind of number to tell you what the diffrence is. Assuming its a fuelie, the intake will be flipped around the wrong way, so will the fuel rail's. Just like that crown vic's, and obviously the trucks. Other then that, were gonna need to know what year it is.
All I will be using from the truck is the block itself.
No differance. other then if it is pre 86 it will be a flattappet camshaft and a 2 peice rear main seal (pre83)
The truck 5.0 was a non-roller cam until '94 when they finally went to a Mass Air setup. The blocks ARE machined so that you can swap in i roller cam setup from '86 on. The cam profile on the bank fire Multi port injection (86-93) has identical lift to the SO cam as well as the 1-5-4 style firing order. I have never found duration #'s for the cam and I can only assume they have more duration than the SO cam due to the fact that the trucks came with 19 pound injectors as opposed to 14's.
Sorry for the highjack,
Are there any piston differences?
Mike
Thats what i thought so as long as i'm just using the block i can do it.
