well, i got another headunit.. and it worked when i pulled it out of another car but it was ghettofied
im hookin the mem power and ground up and not getting any juice to the radio... but when you hook the mem and power up and put the wires to the battery itself.. it works just fine..
what the is the problem?
Are your fuse(s) on the radio circuit good?
And did the stereo that was in your car work before you pulled it?
where are you hooking the remote wire?
On my '87 I had to ground the stereo under the dash to a metal support. Worth a try.
ground wire
it works now but doesnt keep any info... and the memory wire is connected..
thats the problem now?
Sounds like you have a blown fuse or a bad wire. Also you could tap into the lighter plugs power wire for the constant power source. That might be on the same fuse as the mem wire in the factory harness. I'm not sure but it might be.
im getting constant power... just no juice to the memory, none of my info is saved
every time i restart the car the radio goes back to its default settings
ya think a direct wire from the battery to the memory would work? or eould it run my battery dead?
Connected to what?
If you're using the original plugs, memory is green/yellow (always hot), main power (key-on only) is yellow/black. Both in the grey plug.
.
My thoughts exzactly master blaster. If you are really getting the constant power then your head unit would keep all your presets and the clock. Also why not just get power from the cig lighter. It is always on in these cars. Then you wouldn't have to run all the wire to the battery. And no it won't drain you battery to much. Where do you think the power comes from in the first place? Any how sounds like you need to check the fuses. Also some of those aftermarket harness adpaters are made cheaply and the pins like to come out real easy.
From the '84 EVTSM the "memory" is powered from fuse 8, which powers the "Courtesy Lamps". Glove box light, vanity mirror lights, trunk light, etc.
aha, got it... thanks guys
