Title: FEELER for 88TC
Post by: 88turbo on October 15, 2006, 09:53:01 PM
I'd like to see what you guys think my car is worth.  here are the mods that I have done;  TO4E turbo, cold air intake, ranger roller cam, stinger 3" dual exhaust, chrome cobra R's with 245 45 17's, CHE rear control arms with adjustable lowers, and moog cargo coil's in the rear.  the car has 166,888 miles, 5 speed manual, and an 8 month old clutch.  car is not for sale but lets act like it is so start the offers :D

I'll play, does the AC work? Any leaks or smoke? Is the bottom of your bumper cover OK and the air dam in place (it looks like it's busted from the pic)?

And then there's the general inerior and paint and body questions...

Not really enough info, plus it's really hard to value these cars anyway. Your mods look good and the car looks nice. Value really comes down to how much some one is willing to pay (or can afford) and how bad they want it. I've seen some really nice ones with cheap asking prices take forever to sell if at all. For instance 5.8fastcat put up a very nice 87 TC for $2900 back in Feb. I didn't see any really serious interest until Aug. On the other hand sometimes they go really quick.

Personally if the body and paint are near perfect minus the front bumper damage plus the work you put into it and based on the linited info I'd say $2000 with ac and $1800 with out. Then again I'm not in the market for one so my estimate might be alot lower than someone who wants one realy bad.

the A/C is not currently working but I think with a compressor it would be alright,  both doors have rust under the moulding right in the middle of the door, and there is a spot on both sides right behind the rear tires.  other than that the paint is pretty good.

Uh oh, you used the "R" word. For people that live outside the rust belt that would change the "percieved" value dramatically. For someone inside the rust belt "a little" corrosion might be acceptable where as for someone like me outside the rust belt even minor surface corrosion would completely remove a car from concideration. Cars just dont corrode down here so it's easy to find older rust free cars.

That being said, you could probably still get around $1500 because of your mods... Just hope you dont get a buyer like me because I'd be crawlin underneath and poking around with a screw driver.

Honestly? No more than $1500. Even less since it's not running right. It's sad because TC's are worth more in parts than they are whole.

I'll be taking I-80 across Nebraska most likely...still, depending on what my girl wants to do, it may not be out of the question to go through Kansas...just don't know yet at this point.

I saw the title of this thread, and thought OH HELL NO.

I'll give you a buck fifty and a jawbreaker.

How about you at least sell me your Cobra Rs?
