Title: Pics of engine swap
Post by: 88BlueBird on October 04, 2006, 09:48:11 PM
I thought I would post some pics of my 3.8L to 5.0L engine swap.  The 5.0L was from a '91 mark VII, but I completely rebuilt it. It's bored over 0.030in, has Speed Pro forged pistons, Federal Mogul Bearings, ARP fasteners and the rotating assembly has been balanced.  I'm anxious to get it running...but I still have a way to go!

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone. You're right Thunderjet302...I thought the dark Ford blue looks awesome on the engine block. The engine bay was pretty nasty actually, I had to clean and repaint it to make it look like it does now. It's amazing how little Ford actually painted in there! I will be posting more pics of the project soon.

That's bs. Ford was just cheap and didn't want to paint it.

I installed the engine with the trans attached...I have a 1000lb lift so it wasn't a problem. Also, I installed a Transgo Reprogramming kit and a "B" overdrive servo in the trans while I had it removed from the car...here's some pics.
OH...and the engine brackets were powdercoated by a co-worker of mine to have an aluminum look.

Just curious...why "B" servo? why not "A" servo?

Transgo recommended using the B servo with their reprogramming kit rather than the A servo.  The said the A servo is overkill with their kit and can cause harsh engagement into overdrive.  Plus, the Mustang GT, Mark VII, and some F150s all came with the B servo in the AOD

Hmmm..I find that strange.
There are thousands or millions hot rodders out there with transgo kit and "A" servo or aftermarket servo.

oh well, whatever floats your boat.
