I always hear about swapping in an 87/88 tc rear in place of the cougar 7.5 rear. What about the earlier model tc's. Are they 7.5 or 8.8s? Do they have Traction-locs standard? I tried doing a search but came up with nothing regarding the axles or housing.

7.5/3.45 gears/Trac-Loc or Auburn diff/drum brakes

Thanks Chuck. By the way, I don't suppose the Auburn is a limited slip type differential like the traction lock is it?

Yes....different style, but a limited-slip nonetheless

Once again, thanks! Hopefully I can snag that rear for a decent price for my cougar. 3.45's should be lightyears ahead of the 2.73's I have now.
