Well as for an update I have been driving the car every day now with no problem, so I don't know if the car had to for some reason "learn" the new starter solenoid I put in? Anyways I ordered a new ignition switch as well just to be safe. So hopefully the problem doesn't appear again.
I have been having trouble with starting my car. Some times when I turn the key over I get nothing, other times the car starts. The times when it doesn't start I cross the solenoid with a screwdriver and it starts right up. So I'm thinking the problem is between the keyswitch and the solenoid, any common problems in this area or ideas?
How complicated is this swap? Will the AOD work with the new engine? Will the TV rod work? Any other complicated items that will need addressed. My 3.8 is blown, and I'm back and forth on keeping the car or not. I just came across this 5.0 and thought it may be an option, after all the 5.0 is what I really want, and hate to get rid of the car.
No interest? I can go a little lower, especially if someone is local, I did my research before buying them and they had pretty good ratings, and in that price range were the best tires available.
I just purchased these tires last week and had them mounted and balanced. Well my Cougar blew a head gasket on the first trip with the new tires. So I'm done with the car. The rims are silver turbines with Ford caps, no curb rash, but paint is peeling on them. The tires are $60 each from tirerack.com, my shipping was almost $60, and mounting and balancing a little over $40. I would like to try to get as close to the $60 a tire back, and would be willing to maybe cover shipping if in the $50 range. Let me know if anyone is interested.
Finally have the money for paint, so I need a replacement rear bumper for an 87. I am looking for a Cougar bumper or one with the chrome insert, not the the red TC insert. Let me know if you have one for sale! Thanks.
I think I am going to hold off for the moment on the TC bumper, I am repainting the car, but was planing on leaving the chromes moulding strips unpainted, so I guess I will need a cougar rear.
Well luckily my fluid is fresh, and still has no burnt smell, so hopefully I can get more than 3 months out of it, I can't believe a $3 part may have ruined a 70000 mile tranny, poor design.
Its about 360 miles round trip for me to go to Belleview, which I just figured out to be about $75 in my truck (13 mpg on diesel), so shipping is actually cheaper. hcor, I'll take the one of the ones you have for $40 as long as it can be shipped for less than $40 (Florida is closer than TX so I would assume so). The Tbirds have the shiny moulding right? And do they have the chrome strip running through the moulding? (Doesn't matter either way because I'm painting the car, but was just curious)
Well I investigated the problem and found it was the TV rod disconnected. I ordered the new bushing and just put it on today. It is like night and day, shifts so smooth now. My question is when will I know if I damaged the tranny, should I be able to tell now, or in the near future?
