Engine Tech / New to the site new to the car.
Could be a huge vacuum leak, or someone turned the base idle screw in. Try backing idle screw out till you see a slight gap where it contacts the throttle lever, then turn it in till
it contacts, and give it a half turn more. Should get you close if someone cranked it in too much. Count how many turns it takes when backing it off, that will tell you. I saw this happen before.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Procar Seats
I was wondering if anyone has tried Procar by Scat seats in their 1987-1988 Cougar or T-bird, and which adapters to use.
I sent Procar an email inquiring about this as the catalog is vague. Thanks, and happy new year to all!

Engine Tech / A new issue to work out..UPDATE...
From the looks of the cfm ratings when you compare battery to alternator specs, it looks like the Taurus set up is most efficient. How do the GM/Dodge shrouds line up to a Fox type radiator?

Engine Tech / A new issue to work out..UPDATE...
I used a short 5/16" stud from a carb type intake in the lower thermostat housing mounting hole, and after cutting off the obstruction on the water pump in that area it made thermostat changes much easier. A friend had an overheat issue with his AC on, and we got a pusher fan from the bone yard from a Probe and installed it in front of the condenser. It is wired through a relay to come on only with the AC compressor on. When the compressor cycles, the fan shuts off. It is triggered off the 12v wire that engages the AC clutch. I also made sure that the high side pressure didn't go over 200psi without the fan, with R12. Haven't tried R134 in it yet, as i still had some 12 lying around and like it better than 134.

Suspension/Steering / P/S pump "break in"?
use a Robinair vac pump for a.c. evacuation, connected to a sacrificial p.s. reservior cap via jic/an to npt fitting. p.s. this pic has nothing to do with the thread, just trying to figure how to upload from remote server, sorry.

Lounge / Oh the humility!
Is there any information posted by you folks about the 11" front brake conversion? I am interested, the stock brakes on my'88 sport coupe just aren't getting the job done, and I already installed 15' wheels. Thanks for your time. The conversion I am looking for is 11" 4 lug, as I want to retain the turbine wheels I have. I searched Turbo coupe brakes and didn't fin anything.I found the info at COOLCATS. If there is anything you can add to it , it would be most appreciated. My car is my one and only daily driver, so I need to have everything ready to go for the swap.

Suspension/Steering / P/S pump "break in"?
I once bought a rebuilt pump from a vendor I can't remember, and in the instructions I was told to raise the front end, attach an a/c vacuum pump regulated down to 10"hg. The hose was connected to a modified p.s. pump cap, I think I used a #5jic to 1/8th pipe, but it fit on the yellow r-12 hose.Start the engine, turn the wheel from lock to lock until the noise is gone with vac. pump running. The only reason I know this worked, is because I rebuilt the box on my Bronco, and it whined like an old washwoman. I thought the pump ped-out too. It didn't, it cost me $115.00 for a rebuilt pump that I didn't need, but the Proper instruction was worth every penny. ipsd is right, it's air. In the past 35 years of being a Ford guy, I have used dexron 1,2,3, Type F, and almost pure Lucas power steering treatment with no whine. The Lucas is in my '88 Bird now, to cure a leaky steering input shaft seal, which it did.
