Lounge / Old member just dropping in to say hello
It's only been 4 years but it seems like forever ago that i registered here, back in '09 when I wasn't even legal to drink and had to argue with my mother about where I was allowed to park my junkers.  Time flies though, and so did my Thunderbird.  I had a C6 and a 302 I'd built from hand ready to go in (my first ever), but it never got that far.  Electrical problems and my very limited knowledge at the time found me selling the body (a 4-eye) to a guy who turned it into a fish-tank, or so he claimed.  The motor I sold to purchase my next car.

Well, I didn't stay FoMoCo, sad to say, but not out of frustration.  Ford is a great company, and after browsing through the user rides again I have to say these are still some really cool cars.  Glad you guys are still doing your thing!  Just stopped in to say hi and thanks for starting my love of automobiles :)

Lounge / Post up your "to do" lists...
Must be done
1. Get an education
2. Make the T-Bird something more than a paperweight
3. Move back out

Would be nice to find the time to....
1. Stop feeling dizzy and numb from all the booze (freshly 21).
2. Move to day shift.  I hate nights.

"No, actually "rat rods" are more of a "tribute" to "non-conformist" rod building, primarily embracing poorly built and unsafe vehicles. Yes, it can be seen as a backlash against the trailer set, but it is more about ignoring sound engineering principles than anything else."

I dont know about that.  I read a few rat rod magazines and the work done seems sound enough.  You could be right, after all, all I know about them is what I've read.

EDIT:  I do know that the rockabilly ladies that attend the events are right up my alley though :D

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / 2009 junkyard finds
Off-Topic but the coolest things I've ever found in the pulling yards have been a GNX and an AMX.  Seems like more and more the places are filling up with econo-cars and minivans though.

Rat Rod is a legitimate term for a particular niche in the automotive hobby world.  The only reason it's considered offensive is because the ideology that started the "Rat Rod" method of design was that the car was built to be driven, not driven around in a trailer.

Personally I'm a fan of the Rat Rod concept.  My T-Bird's not hand built, so it doesn't qualify, but it's  close :P

Be careful where you money ends up, I'm not saying that your gf will waste it or anything, but about 2 years ago my wife was supposed to pay off a warrent for me, but didn't trust me to hang onto the money. She got her purse stolen with my $860 in it while she was at work. I'm sure there's still more to the story then that, but I decided to not push it so much. Whats really stupid, is there was only 3 other people there at the time and the cops wouldn't do anything about it. I worked for 76 hours overtime one week, and that was all that I had left after paying bills. I ended up getting a title loan so I could put gas in the car for 2 weeks.

THAT is a rough story.  So much for not trusting YOU with the money, eh? :P
