Misc Tech / Heater/blower issue
Yep I pulled the thing apart expecting to see the broken clip and to my dismay I found an intact clip with the cable end still in it, about an inch of cable, and nothing else except a frayed end...

I'll move tot he next project and forget the cruise for now.

Next on the list:
Steering rack?
Shocks/struts?
Interior trim reconditioning?

Misc Tech / Heater/blower issue
I got it fixed today, five minute fix.  Thanks guys.

I also found out my cruise control cable was not just disconnected like I hoped it was, the cable was broken.

Misc Tech / Heater/blower issue
Clearly the wrong search terms were used in my feeble attempt to gain knowledge.  Thank you both for helpling me out with that so handily.

Misc Tech / Heater/blower issue
In my 87 20th anny cat the blower only works on the highest setting but not in the other two intermediate speed settings so in other words
low=off
medium=off
high=on

I tried searching but didn't see this issue listed.  Anyone have suggestions for me?

If I get this fixed and the cruise control hooked up this weekend it will officially be the best $1000 car ever.:burnout:

Gorgeous car, I can't believe you can get away driving that thing in MN.  Wouldn't survive five miles down here in Red Wing.

Misc Tech / aftermarket seats?
So does he have to take the slider bracket off the bottom of the seat and fasten the stock sliders to the seat frame?  I was considering a similar swap possibly.

I think your car looks ultra classy the way it is.  I'm a big fan of understated sleepers.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Should I keep 20th anniversary Cougar around?
Congratulations by the way, my local dodge dealership just wrapped up their push pull and drag sale guaranteeing 2008 dollars on anything you trade in.  Might be a good way to get into something like a caravan or something family friendly like that.  If that doesn't feel right then maybe put it up on Craigslist and list it as a 20th anniversary cougar.  People who know what that is and want one will find you.

Drivetrain Tech / trans questions
Awesome.  I will get into the linkage tomorrow night after work maybe.  Thanks guys.  I just adjusted the TV cable a little bit too just to make sure it's good to go.

Do your guys' cougars have a really stiff throttle spring.  It seems like it takes an awful lot of effort to push the gas pedal down.  I'm used to lil imports lately though so maybe it's just me but I don't remember my mustang having that particular issue.  I see the throttle body spring is looking a little corroded but it's not binding and closes al the way just fine.  Maybe the cable is gunked up..  I'll pull the throttle cable off it in a day or two and see if that's where the resistance is coming from.

I think I'm gonna love this car...

Drivetrain Tech / trans questions
I just got my cougar back from it's first transmission service since I've owned it, they put in a new dipstick because the tube was leaking.

I am noticing two things that still aren't fixed and I'm a lil lost.
1.  When I shift straight down into overdrive from park, the car stays in neutral until I shift down into regukar drive then back up into overdrive, what's that about?
2.  When the car shifts into drive I get an air hissing sound inside the car, sounds like it's coming from the driver's side but since it's all a mechanical linkage I don't have a clue where that could be coming from or what would be making that noise.

I'm not going back to the shop unless I have to, the tech did exactly what I asked him to do, stop the leak, so it's not his fault it still has issues.

Anyone have any ideas?

Bummer, just found out I am replacing/repairing the headliner.  Also found a tranny leak near the front of the pan.  I'll let the pros handle the tranny, that's a potentially huge mess.

Privateer, good to hear from ya.  I was looking at VFRs when I bought the duc but I got "shot in the foot" on the duc and practically stole the thing with the expensive seat and bar risers etc already on.  The guy from whom I bought it was offloading it because he is taking a southamerican tour on a bike and he needed a good distance/offroad capable bike and he was leaving in less than a month so he was really starting to sweat.
