Going to start off with an Edelbrock Performer. If that doesn't impress me, I'll find a different one. With a T5, high compression (gotta love local E85 at the pump), and 3:73's out back, I feel I can get by with a cam that shifts the power up the rpm range a bit.

Engine Swapping / 1985 t-bird 390 swap
You do realize a '69 Mustang with a factory 390 is a pretty odd bird? Why molest it and remove the 390 to make a mutt? Any pics of said 'Stang?

LEADS on T-Bird/Cougar Stuff For Sale / Rough 88 Turbo Coupe
The only other automatic choice for Ford in that era with overdrive was the AODead. That would've involved retooling parts, something I'm sure Ford didn't want to bear the cost of. Not to mention the AOD would've sucked too much power out of the little 2.3.

I hope you pulled the rubber firewall seal that the steering shaft goes through, and the clutch master cylinder clips into.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / 2.3 valve cover
Are you looking for the SVO/Early TC unit that says "Ford Fuel Injected Turbo", or the Merkur unit that says "2.3 Turbo"? I have several Svo/Early TC units, and one Merkur unit.

Aaron, they have tools to allow you to undo the garter spring fittings on the lines. Should be available at all the "finer" parts stores. Or as others have pointed out, this may be the best time to have one or two custom tailored to the car.
