Suspension/Steering / LMR complete brake upgrade kit?
I used the SVE-2300K setup on the front and SVE-2320CRK on the rear of my 1985 1/2 Turbo Coupe. I used the sn95 spindles from a 95 mustang and already had an 88 rear axle housing. The only problem I had was they sent me a right side anti-moan bracket for a regular GT not a Cobra (not their fault, Ford Motorsports had it boxed with a correct left side bracket). Everything else bolted right in.

One difference on mine, was that I needed a brakeline adapter for the opposite side that the write-up on the Cool-Cats mod page said. The part # was 1 digit different.

Should have bought it all in one kit, but in my confusion I thought the rears wouldn't fit. Later, and much more reading and found that they would, and they did.

I do not regret one cent that I spent on them.

Suspension/Steering / SN95 REAR Cobra brakes
Thanks for the confirmation. That's what I got from all the reading.

I used spindles and axles from a 95. Really happy with the results, but had to have TC rear rotors re-drilled for 5 lug which I'd like to avoid doing again. Besides not being as pretty as the fronts.

Suspension/Steering / SN95 REAR Cobra brakes
I have an 85 Turbocoupe with an 88 rear axle with the disc brakes, and both front and rear axles converted to Mustang 5 Lugs. (I have LMR's 13" Cobras on the front)

I want to install the Cobra Rears; Part # SVE-2320CRK as found on the "Late Model Restoration" website.

After spending a number of weekends searching here and on the NATO site I have come to the conclusion that with very minor modifications it will work.

The description on the LMR website states that it won't work on a Foxbody, but I am assuming that it is because the Mustang Foxbodies had drum brakes and that would have to be remedied first.

Can anyone fill me in on anything I may be missing or correct any assumptions I might have wrong?

Suspension/Steering / 1995 SN95 spindle swap
When using the SN95 spindles with the stock 85 thunderbird struts, which side of the spindle/strut mount should the spacers (washers) be on? Front, Back or evenly between?

Suspension/Steering / Starting 5-lug swap
I found my answer in another  old thread that stated that sometimes the axle s do have to be machined down.

Wish that was in the write-up, so as to prevent mental anguish on my part.

Hope this helps someone else.

BTW the outside dimension of the  is the same as the outside dimension of the rotor hat.

No way it will ever fit on that axle.

?????

The write-up claims

"Or, you could do the ol' Mustang conversion trick: use 1990 Mazda MPV (V6, 3.0) front rotors, and 1/8" spacers. Place the spacers between the rotor hat
and axle  to put the rotor back into alignment with the stock Turbo Coupe caliper location."

I can't see how this will ever work, unless I got some messed up rotors.

Suspension/Steering / Starting 5-lug swap
I got the spindles and axles out of a 95 Mustang last fall and I am finally starting the swap on my 85 Turbocoupe. (I have an 88 rear end.)

I ordered the Front Rotors for a 1990 Mazda MPV V6 3.0L, for my rear discs. They came in today and guess what? The rotor hat won't fit over the axle .

I don't think there is enough material to have either piece turned down to fit. Not sure any shop would do it anyway. What gives?

I also can't find any Mark VII rotors that aren't 10.5" instead of 10" even though the write-up in Coolcats says the 91 & 92 had them.

These things are suppose to work, but it seems I'm spending more good money after bad.

Any advice?

Suspension/Steering / 95 - SN95 Spindles
I have an 85 Turbo Coupe which I am getting ready to swap 1995 SN95 spindles onto. On the Coolcats 4 to 5 lug swap it states that the "Wheel Center" is moved 23mm outward, and the 96+ spindles being the same. Between the  forums here and on NATO I have found other references which say that the 96+ spindles are 3/8" further out. Maybe I'm confusing 2 different things, so here is my question.

How much outboard is the "wheel" mounting surface of the 95 spindle with Hub & Rotor, as compared to my stock spindle with integrated Rotor/Hub? Hence, If I were to "hypothetically" mount the same stock width wheel on that 95 spindle how much more offset would be required to locate that wheel back to its original position in space?

Suspension/Steering / Rock hard brake pedal
If some one helps you resolve this problem, please post.

I Posted with this same problem over a year ago. Followed the rear disc upgrade to a "T". If I literally stand on the brakes the rears will lock up first, no matter where I set the valve (just happens sooner or later). SSCCAARRYY

Don't have any more time for my 85 TC, so it's been parked for a year.

I gave up and figured I need larger rotors in the front??? Meaning SN95 stuff. Don't know when I'll ever get back to it.
